Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How does cbd oil work (in the body, in the brain)?
    • All cannabinoids produce effects in the body by interacting with cannabinoid receptors, which form part of the endocannabinoid system.

  2. What receptors does CBD bind to?
    • CBD binds to 65 different receptor sites, with the most well-known receptor sites being CB1 and CB2, Serotonin Receptors, and Adenosine Receptors. These receptors are involved in a variety of physical and mental processes, including stress management, hunger, addictive behaviors, sleep, pain, nausea, and more.

  3. How is CBD metabolized?
    • CBD, THC, and all cannabinoids are lipid molecules (fat, waxes, oils), which are insoluble in water. So, CBD must travel further down the digestive tract to the liver, where bile is released to break down these large lipid molecules, making it bioavailable by the lymphatic system

  4. How long does CBD take to feel effect?
    • The onset of effects from CBD depends on the form of CBD chosen for use and can range from 5 to 20 minutes for inhaled forms of CBD, to 30 to 60 minutes for oral forms of CBD.

  5. How long does CBD last?
    • Once CBD becomes bioavailable it has a half life between four to eight hours. This is the period of time that CBD is active in the body before it is broken down.

  6. What is the endocannabinoid system?
    • The Endocannabinoid System, ECS, is another vital system that exists in the body of all mammals. It has been around for an estimated 600 million years and the role of the ECS is to maintain balance.

  7. CBD Isolate - uses, benefits and effects
    • Pure CBD isolate products might be better suited for those who are very sensitive to the effects of cannabinoids. Synergistically combining the whole plant by itself at night, with pure CBD doses during the day, might become a functional and effective strategy.
